A Future Worth Staying For

When I was growing up, I remember people would say they lived in Iowa because it was one of the best places in the U.S. to raise a family because of our top ranked public school system.  However, as I have talked with Iowans recently, I frequently hear that the primary reason people live in Iowa today is because they have family here.  In fact, it is not uncommon for an Iowan to tell me, “There are plenty of better states to live in.”  This is the reason I am running for office—because I want all Iowans to believe, once again, that they have a future in Iowa worth staying for.  Unfortunately, many Iowans have lost faith in our political system, and its easy to understand why.  We have seen politicians make empty campaign promises.  We have seen politicians put extremist agendas ahead of common sense.  We have seen politicians put personalities before principles.  We have seen politicians fail to have the courage to speak truth to power or stand up to special interests.

That is why it is time to elect a different kind of leader: one with the courage to lead.  I will focus on finding solutions, not promoting an extremist agenda.  I will take action to strengthen the economy for all Iowans, not divert precious resources to fund endless culture wars.  I will put common sense ahead of partisanship. It is time Iowa got back to working for all Iowans again.  Let’s invest in our future together – a future that’s worth staying for.
